Aidan Vining has been a Director of the Brinkman Group Governance Board. since 1995, and is acting Chairperson. In 2018, Aidan retired as the CNABS Professor of Business and Government Relations in the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. He has taught MBA courses at Berkeley, USC, UOC, UOA, UBC, and University of Sydney, Australia as well as others, in his esteemed career as a professor of business strategy. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds an LL.B (King’s College, London) and an MBA (UC, Riverside) and MPP (UC, Berkeley).
He actively researches in the areas of public policy, cost-benefit analysis, public management, Indigenous peoples’ management issues, and institutional analysis. Aidan has authored well over a hundred articles in peer-reviewed journals. His work is widely cited with over 16,000 Google Scholar cites. In IDEAS RePEc, Aidan has a number of “within the top 10th percentile” rankings. He is a winner of the John Vanderkamp prize (Canadian Economics Association) and the J.E. Hodgetts Award (Institute of Public Administration of Canada) and a finalist for the Kenneth J. Arrow prize for senior economists (BEpress). Aidan is a lawyer, and consultant to national, state and provincial governments and also serves on a number of corporate Boards of Directors other than Brinkman Group.
